Not everyone wants an injectable — and not everyone needs one. At Lumina Aesthetics in Limerick, microneedling is a cornerstone of our skin-first philosophy. It's often the treatment we recommend instead of something more invasive — because when skin quality improves, people simply look fresher, and that's frequently the result patients were really after.
Microneedling uses very fine, sterile needles to create thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin. Your skin responds the way it's designed to — by repairing, renewing and producing fresh collagen. Over a course of treatments, that repair process gradually improves:
After a consultation to assess your skin and goals, each session takes around 45–60 minutes including numbing time. Your skin will look flushed — like mild sunburn — for a day or two, with possible light flaking afterwards. Most of our Limerick patients are back to their normal routine the next day. Sessions are usually spaced 4–6 weeks apart, and we'll build a simple skincare plan around your course to protect your results.

Our clinic in Pallaskenry is around 25 minutes from Limerick City, 15 from Adare and 10 from Askeaton. Patients come to us for microneedling from across Co. Limerick, Clare and North Kerry. Usually a course of 3–6 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, depending on your skin and what we're treating. We'll give you an honest estimate at consultation — not a sales pitch.
Numbing cream is applied before treatment, and most patients describe the sensation as a light vibration or mild scratching. It's very tolerable.
Expect redness like mild sunburn for 24–48 hours and possibly some light flaking after. Most people are comfortable being back at work the next day.
Microneedling is one of the better-evidenced treatments for improving acne scarring, particularly rolling and shallow scars. Deeper scars may need a combined approach — we'll assess honestly and tell you what's realistic.
Microneedling is suitable for most skin types and tones, but a consultation comes first — including your skin history, any active breakouts or conditions, and whether now is the right time to treat.
