Anti-Wrinkle · August 2026
By Dr Tafadzwa, Founder of Lumina Aesthetics, Limerick
One of the most common questions I hear in consultations goes something like: “Why did mine wear off so fast last time?”
It’s a fair question — and an important one, because the honest answer isn’t “you need more” or “you did something wrong.” It’s simply biology.
Anti-wrinkle treatment works by temporarily quietening the communication between a nerve and the muscle it controls. That’s what softens the movement causing a line. Over time, that communication naturally rebuilds — the nerve reconnects with the muscle, and normal movement gradually returns.
That’s not a flaw in the treatment. It’s not your body “fighting it.” It’s just how the nerve-muscle connection is designed to work.
If you’ve compared notes with a friend and found your results didn’t last as long as theirs, that’s completely normal. A few things influence how quickly movement returns:
None of this means anything went wrong. It just means your face isn’t a copy of anyone else’s.
Here’s the part that matters most: results fading is not, on its own, a reason to increase your dose next time. It’s a reason to have a proper review.
I’d rather look at what’s actually happening on your face — where movement has returned, how your muscles have responded, whether your goals have changed — than simply add more product because “last time wore off quickly.” If you don’t need it, I’ll tell you. That’s not a slogan, it’s how I was trained to practise.
Every anti-wrinkle plan here is tailored, not templated. Dosing and timing are adjusted to you specifically, and reviewed rather than repeated on autopilot. The goal is always the same: refreshed, not frozen — expression preserved, results that hold up to daylight and close conversation.
It’s worth booking a consultation if:
If your results have faded sooner than you expected, or you’re simply not sure what schedule suits you, book a consultation with us in Limerick. We’ll talk it through — tailored to your face, no pressure either way.
It varies by individual — muscle strength, expressiveness and personal biology all play a part. Rather than promise a fixed number, we review each patient and plan around what is actually happening on their face.
Not inherently. If your timeline has changed, it is worth discussing at a review rather than assuming — there are usually simple explanations.
Not automatically. A proper review comes first. Escalating dose without reviewing is exactly the kind of one-size-fits-all approach we do not practise here.
Yes. We see patients from across the region, including a fortnightly clinic day for North Kerry patients in partnership with Urban Angels in Moyvane, so you do not always need to travel into Limerick.
