Sculptra® in Limerick

A collagen stimulator rather than a filler — results that build gradually over months, so the change looks like you on a good year, not like something you’ve had done.

Collagen, not instant volume

Sculptra® contains poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible, biodegradable substance that has been used in medicine for decades. Unlike filler, it isn’t designed to create shape on the day. Instead it prompts your skin to produce more of its own collagen over the weeks and months that follow, gradually restoring firmness and some of the volume that is lost with age.

That is the point of it, and also the thing people need to know before they book: straight after treatment you may look fuller from the fluid it is mixed with, then that settles within a few days and it can look as though nothing has happened. Then, slowly, it does.

Who it suits

It is not a treatment for lips, and it is the wrong choice if you want a visible result for an event in a few weeks’ time.

Treatment plan: usually a short course of sessions spaced several weeks apart — how many depends on how much support your skin needs, and we will tell you at consultation. Results develop over the following months and can last up to around two years.

Sculptra or filler?

Hyaluronic acid filler places shape exactly where it is put, and you see it immediately. Sculptra works across an area and builds over time. Neither is better in general; they solve different problems, and some people need neither. A consultation is where we work out which, if any, fits your face.

Aftercare and side effects, honestly

Swelling, tenderness and some bruising are common for a few days. We will show you how to massage the treated area at home — typically five minutes, five times a day, for five days — because it helps the product settle evenly. Less commonly, small lumps can form under the skin; careful technique, correct preparation and that aftercare reduce the risk, and as a doctor-led clinic we review anything that doesn’t feel right.

We will not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding, where there is active infection or inflammation in the area, or with a history of keloid scarring, and some medical conditions need a closer look first. We go through your history properly before anything is booked.

Frequently asked questions

Is Sculptra a filler?

No. Filler adds shape in a specific place straight away. Sculptra stimulates your own collagen, so improvement builds gradually over the following months.

How many sessions will I need?

Usually a short course of sessions spaced several weeks apart. The number depends on how much support your skin needs, and we agree it at consultation.

When will I see results?

Initial fullness from the fluid it is mixed with settles within a few days. The real result develops gradually over the following weeks and months as new collagen forms.

How long does Sculptra last?

Results can last up to around two years, depending on your skin, age and lifestyle.

Is there downtime?

Expect some swelling, tenderness and possible bruising for a few days, and a short course of gentle massage at home afterwards. Most people carry on with normal life.

How much does Sculptra cost?

From €350 per session. Full pricing is published on our prices page.

Do you treat patients in Kerry?

Yes — at our fortnightly clinic at Urban Angels Hair Salon, Moyvane, Co. Kerry (V31 PN47), serving Listowel, Abbeyfeale, Tarbert and Ballybunion.
